Daily Recipe: The Ultimate Beef Wellington

The Ultimate Warrior, Ultimate Fighting, Ultimate Frisbee - Let's face it, adding the word "ultimate" in front of any word automatically makes it cooler. So does the same ring true in terms of food? Probably, but there's only one way to find out...

Daily Recipe: Meatless Meatloaf

The question is, if you're going to have meatloaf, why not just go all out and actually have meatloaf if you're not a vegetarian? We wish we could answer that, we really do. But for whatever reason, when Whole Foods offers their vegan meatless meatloaf in the deli case, we opt for it. It's just good. Now that we've tracked down the recipe, it appears we can have it anytime. We just hope we don't ruin it by having too much of a good thing.

Daily Recipe: Grilled Steak and Eggs with Beer and Molasses

If you ever find an excuse to eat steak, chances are, it's a good excuse. Nothing beat a slab or marinated meat, rich in taste and hearty goodness. When you add the simple pleasure of an egg over-easy to the equation, things just get better. Now take that combo, add beer, and you've entered a realm sweeter than life itself.

Daily Recipe: French Onion Soup

The thing about a good French Onion Soup is that it looks like it took the better part of two hours hour to prepare. You have that hot, steamy goodness under a piece of quickly-softening bread and a baked-on blend of cheese covering the entire top of the bowl. While some restaurants want you to believe it does actually take all that time, it really doesn't have to. Tonight, spoil yourself with a bowl, and do so in a fraction of the time you originally thought.

Daily Recipe: Spicy Potato Tacos for Taco Tuesday

At least around these parts, Taco Tuesday has become somewhat of a tradition among a close group of friends. Every Tuesday, a few of us gather for witty banter, a few libations, perhaps the latest episode of Lost, and, most importantly tacos. It's a nice social dish, especially when guests are allowed to assemble their own. Call a friend or 5 tonight, put a few Corona's on ice, chops some onions, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and whatever else you'd like to stuff in a shell, and enjoy!

Daily Recipe: Pad Thai

There's not much better than take out food. Delivery is good too, but at least when you go pick up something, you feel like you at least earned it a little. There's a Thai place near us that has the best take out food, and we've deemed this Monday night an appropriate night to go grab some. However, since you're most-likely not near the same place, we suggest you make some of your own Pad Thai and join us in deliciousness.

Daily Recipe: Salmon Hand Roll

Whole Foods, or at least the location on Colorado Blvd., is having a blowout sale on their fresh salmon. It was upwards of $13/lbs, but right now you can grab some of the delicious fish for a cool $8.99/lbs. If that's not a deal, at Whole Foods or anywhere else, we'd sure like to know what you consider a "deal." While you're at the market, pick up some nori, fresh mint leaves, sushi rice, and asparagus for tonight's hand rolls.

Daily Recipe: Cold night, Hot lasagna

The high tonight in the Mile High City is supposed to be a balmy 20 degrees. It has been snowing all day, the roads are treacherous, the visibility is low, and doing anything other than having the ultimate movie night tonight sounds downright impossible. Cook up a meaty lasagna, throw on your Redbox rental (we suggest the classic 80s flick, "Valley Girl"), and stay warm indoors while the sky opens outside.

Daily Recipe: Corned Beef and Cabbage Rolls

While Irish fare isn't looked to as the "healthiest" of cuisine, that doesn't mean it can't be augmented to be just that. Most of us are at least somewhat conscious of our health, unless you're Donna Simpson (look it up), but that doesn't mean you have to skirt the traditional dishes of St. Paddy's altogether. A simple tweak to Corned Beef and Cabbage can make the dish healthy without sacrificing tradition or taste.

Daily Recipe: Grilled Hot Dogs with Mango Chutney and Red Onion Relish

There's a hot dog stand across town that promises to stay true to the Chicago way of the dog. This means, they serve up frankfurters with no utensils, and if you ask for ketchup, you may be asked to leave. According to Chicago hot dog tradition, the red stuff ruins the pureness that is encased meat. We wonder if that means asking for Mango Chutney is out, too. Only one way to find out. Road trip anyone?
